APA 7th Edition in MS Word (2)

Question

This is an update to Mike Slagle's excellent work in creating an APA 7 style that works with Microsoft Word (original discussion found here). To make this something that can be improved, I've uploaded the original file - plus the two fixes listed in the comments - to GitHub. If you have improvements to the file, submit a pull request!

I can confirm that it works for me on the current version (as of this post) of the Microsoft 365 version of Word. I cannot verify it will work for anyone else, on any other version of Word.

All credit goes to Mike Slagle and the two who added additional fixes in the comments. I just uploaded a file. :)

Another way to get to the location is, when in Word, click on the References tab, then Manage Sources. From that, click the Browse... button. That'll open the Bibliography folder.

I suggest opening the file you saved and making sure that the contents of that file is exactly what's showing when you look at its contents on GitHub (https://github.com/briankavanaugh/APA-7th-Edition/blob/main/APASeventhEdition.xsl)

If the first line isn't that XML code you probably did the same thing I did (I still don't know what I did, but I learned I didn't have the right file).

Copy/Paste the raw data into the first file you saved that isn't working, save the file again. Close Word. Re-Open Word*. Rejoice!

I downloaded Mike's original file, but I am not sure where to place it...

He suggested C:\Users<your_login_name>\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\Bibliography\Style

However, after "Microsoft" I can't find the bibliography file. Any suggestions?

You can create folders.

You can go directly to your Appdata folder by typing %Appiaha% in the address bar in Windows Explorer. Then click on Microsoft.

You likely can find location information in one of the three threads I linked earlier.
