Color font is black but shows up light grey!

Question

I opened Word Doc and the page showed up black. I fixed by changing page color to (white) through the "Detail" tab. I start typing but the font is a light grey but it is in black. I have restarted and reinstall Word twice. How do I fix this?

Change the Paper Color back to No Color & change the Font Color back to Automatic in the whole document then see one of the many existing conversations on the confusing invocation of a feature called:

Dark Mode **** which has blind-sided numerous users.

May I request a screenshot of the document showing how it appears?

Please select all the text by pressing Cmd+A button, select another font color from the Font Color drop-down box, and change the color to something else (say 'Red') and then try chaninge it back to Black, check if the font color still shows grey.

Besides, please check if your Office apps are fully updated. The latest version of Microsoft 365/2019 for mac is 16.52 (21080801). To check the version, open any working Office app such as Word, go to the Word menu and choose About Word.

If the version appears lower, then manually update Office apps, click Help > Check for Updates from any of the Office apps to get the latest build.

If the issue persists, please provide us with the following information:

1. Please confirm the version and build of Word for mac. To get this information, open Word, go to the Word menu and choose About Word.
2. A screenshot of the document.
3. May I know the font color is changed in existing documents as well or it happens only when typing in new docs?
