Hi,

I a working on shared Excel spreadsheets in Sharepoint and I often experience that, even if I select sheet view or temporary view, that other users will see my sorting of columns etc. Sofar I have not saved (keep in the excel lingo) the temporary view while I am using it.

Does anyone know how to set the view so other users will not get effected by my work in the spread sheet?

Thanks

    Hi NCBHinDK,

As per your description, the Sheet views are an innovative way of letting you create customized views in an Excel worksheet without being disrupted by others.

If other users/people are working on the same Excel file, when you can sort/filter, you want to apply that sort or filter for just you, (not everyone) and Excel automatically names your new view "Temporary View" to indicate the sheet view isn't saved yet.

Based on my test result when I’m in "Temporary View" and do some filter the others user not affected to see my changes. See my test image below for you reference:

    Temporary View:

    Other users’ side view:

However, the other people who share the workbook can see views you created if they go to the View tab, and look at the sheet view switcher drop-down in the Sheet Views group. In this scenario they can see.

For more detail information how its work, you may refer to this article: Sheet Views in Excel

I appreciate your understanding and stay safe!!

    Best Regards

Thank you for your advise. The problem seems to persist. Although I am in Temporary View my colleagues can still see (an be bothered about) my sorting in the shared excel sheet.

    Best regards

    Hi NCBHinDK,

Thanks for sharing updates with us and I really appreciate your effort and your precious time doing those tests.

To narrow down your issue, could you please confirm to me does this issue happened to only specific shared Excel file?  If you don’t mind, could you please create a new Excel workbook (for test purpose) and verify the result with us.

Meanwhile could you please confirm if your colleagues use a “Temporary View” and did you meet same issue from your side?

I appreciate your understanding and stay safe!!

    Best Regards
