PowerPoint automatically closes when laptop goes into sleep in windows 10

Question

Whenever the laptop is put/goes on sleep mode with programs like PowerPoint still running and file being open, then when the laptop is switched back on, the PowerPoint automatically closes or shuts down when laptop goes into sleep.

• My version of PP is 2111, build 14701.20262
• Word, OneNote, and Excel do not close when I lock or put the laptop to sleep. I tested this, and PP will close upon lock/sleep mode even directly after I restart my PC (before any other medium/large applications are running, I do not have any that autostart)
• This occurs even with a brand new presentation with one empty slide

Is there any way to resolve this issue?

Hi, VivenThen.

I had this issue as well. Exactly like yours: only PP that closes, whereas Word, OneNote, and Excel don't. I had tried many ways, including doing a factory reset, however, the problem persists.

Finally, I've solved the problem. I found that it had something to do with my antivirus installed on my laptop. The antivirus was McAfee which was preinstalled on my laptop. After removing the antivirus, the issue was gone. Currently I only use Windows Defender. I haven't tried other antivirus because I'm worried it will have the same impact as before.

I don't know if the same solution applies to you too, but maybe you can give it a try.

Hi there. I did like what you have suggested and it works for me. My powerpoint no longer closes on its own when my laptop is under sleep mode. Thank you for your suggestion. Really save me.
