How do I add descriptive text automatically to table of figures?

Hi,

In a Word 365 document, I am trying to add the descriptive text of each caption of each figure automatically to the table of figures.

Figure 1 (caption)

Descriptive text is here (for example, Graph of consumer preferences)

This is the format used with APA style for use with figures. I know how to add the caption to the table of contents, but I don't know how to add the descriptive text automatically like captions, except manually typing each one, which is what I want to avoid if possible.

If the descriptive text is in the same paragraph as the figure number, they will both be included in the table of figures. You can start a new line within the same paragraph by inserting a line break (press Shift+Enter).

When I created the screen shot below, I chose to display nonprinting marks (click the ¶ icon on the Home tab in Word). The line break will be represented by a "bent" arrow.

Thanks so much! It worked!

To preserve the different formats of the caption and the descriptive text what I did was first apply the same style to both and then manually change the format of the descriptive text. Now I have my nice table of figures, preserving as well the APA style of the figures captions and their descriptive text.
