I have exactly the same problem. As my computer never enters sleep while plugged, except when I ask him to go into sleep mode, I did not lose any information so far, but I noticed the problem when I shut the laptop and take him elsewhere and open again. I followed some suggestions in another site : https://www.technipages.com/fix-powerpoint-closes-when-computer-goes-to-sleep#comment-1042875 to resolve the problem, but none of them worked. Good to hear that others have similar problems. I suppose it is a Windows or Microsoft Office bug that someone from Microsoft has to resolve. Unfortunately, MS sometimes introduces or changes things that make work more difficult instead of easier, and you have to relearn things that you already knew how to do, just because they changed the position of certain features, buttons or hide some functions elsewhere or change the logic at all, as if the same feature did not exist before and was invented right now. It is the same with the back and forward buttons in Office applications. It did not make any sense at all to hide these buttons in the first or second (página inicial in WORD) menu of the office applications, instead of keeping them visible all the time in the first line at top of the menus.
PowerPoint closes without saving when computer goes to sleep
If PowerPoint is closing without saving your work when your computer sleeps or when you close the lid of your laptop, it's probably due to an interaction between PowerPoint and your McAfee antivirus software. MS is aware of the problem and working on a solution.
Meanwhile, a few suggestions to help you avoid losing data while we wait for a fix:
- Get in the habit of pressing Ctrl+S often, and especially whenever you're going to step away from the computer
- Change your computer's power settings to have it wait longer before sleeping or hibernating
If neither of those suggestions fits your work habits, consider switching to a different antivirus program, either permanently or until MS releases a solution. MS Defender is free.
