my PERSONAL.XLSB workbook is not loaded during startup. it works if i change the name. ??

Question

my PERSONAL.XLSB workbook is not loaded during startup. it appears to be related to the name of the workbook: when i change the name to Personal1.xlsb or make a copy of it, the workbook is loaded. i am confused. of course I can use the alternative names, but i want to know what is causing this remarkable behavior. Is the name somewhere on a black list? Can somebody please shine some light in my darkness? Appreciate it

As per your description, please don’t worry, we can work together to narrow down and resolve the situation.

There could be a couple of different causes for this problem. The first thing you want to do is check to see if the Personal workbook has somehow become disabled via go to File>Options>add-ins tab, use drop-down near the bottom and select disabled items. Then click Go... Check the Personal workbook is it in the list of Disables Items. If the Personal workbook is listed as disabled, select it and then click Enable.

It is also possible that the directory in which the Personal workbook is stored has somehow become "untrusted" to Excel. Here is my test screenshot of location for your reference.

Also, you can define a folder that contains files that will automatically open when you launch Excel. So I created a folder called EXCEL START and I put my personal.xlsb file in the folder and now it all works perfectly

In the meantime, if you checked the Trust Center and the file location is a Trusted Location. And the file is not a Disabled Add-in. then to confirm whether this is a bug in a specific version, please provide us the version information. To check version: Open Excel>File>Account>Product Information and capture a full screenshot and share here (Please mask your private message) and we will be tested on that version and verify the result with you.

I'm having the same problem. Trust is fine, when I manually load up PERSONAL.XLSB macros are there.

dear Palcouk. Thanks you so much for taking the time to help me with suggestions to solve my problem.

the Personal.xlsb file is a binairy file containing VBA macros that can be used in all other Excel files, when loaded. I choose to load this file into Excel at startup of Excel. But there was the problem: the file was not loaded anymore. thanks to the suggestions of Waqas Muhammad this issue was solved and everything is back to normal.

As an observation; having a file/doc auto start on startup can often lead to failures because the file/app may load before the PC has finished loading, generally any AV will be the last to load

Since by default that doc will be on OneDrive, why would you want to auto-start that doc
