"You don't have access to this. Your sign-in was successful but you don't have permission to access this resource." We setup account for customer, but no admin to contact for access issues.

I work for a retailer, and one of the computer services we have available includes a computer setup with a Microsoft Office license included. This particular customer purchased 365 Business Premium, and both they and I get the titled message with Error code 53005 when trying to sign in with the credentials. Credentials are recognized as correct, but resources are not available. Since we set everything up for the customer here, there is no further admin to contact for anything. Customer has not been able to access this at all, so the information has not been connected to any accounts. Plus, the customer would benefit more from a different license for renewal, but still want to try to get the customer access to anything they are missing out on.

    Dear CDennis97 ODM,

Good day! Thanks for posting to Microsoft Community. I am happy to assist you.

Based on your description, to better understand and investigate your issue, I may need some more detailed information from your side so that I can narrow down the issue in right way:

    • When did this happen? When you sign in from a web browser or sign in Office apps installed on the PC ?
    • Would you mind clicking on More details and checking the troubleshooting details?

In general, if you see this error code, the admin might have set up a conditional access policy that can block you from opening the Office apps or internet access under certain conditions, as the conditional access policy can help protect company or organization data. And one or more of the following reasons may also have caused this error code: You can't access your Office apps

    • Your device isn't connected to your company or organization network.
    • The admin has set up two factor authentication and you haven't authenticated in two ways.
    • Your device isn't joined to the domain.
    • Your device isn't trusted.

So you need to contact your admin to check conditional access policy via Azure Active Directory, but you have mentioned that no admin to contact for access issues, l sincerely suggest you contact phone support, our professional engineer can help to check details remotely and provide further support to set up your account: Find Microsoft 365 for business support phone numbers by country or region - Microsoft 365 admin | Microsoft Learn

    Sincerely,

    Tammy | Microsoft Community Moderator.
