When an Microsoft Office 365 account is blocked, this error message will appear: Your account is temporarily locked to prevent unauthorized use. Try again later, and if you still have trouble, contact your admin. As a consequence, users can’t log in to Office 365 portals with blocked accounts.

I had a user with the same issue.

The fix for me was in Office 365, FInd user and Signed-Out user from all sessions

Then user was able to login again.

Ran in to this today myself. I am a tenant admin and I reset my password about 4 hours ago. We are hybrid with azure ad connect and writeback. I can use the new password to log in to machines on the domain against local ad, but if I try to log in on a machine that is only azure ad joined it tells me that the password is incorrect. If I go to any Microsoft web services, it says that my account has been locked. Luckily windows hello for business is still working. Tried having someone else on my team block and unblock my account in azure ad but this did not accomplish anything.

Experiencing the exact same issue in our tenant. All AAD Sync services are green and show successful, no event log errors. Replication diagnostics comes up clean, but nobody can log into the portal for new connections. Onprem environments are working just fine, but password sync to cloud services is definitely broken.

We have a ticket open with MS, but did anyone find a resolution in your own environments?
