Automatic Driver Update Script
Hello, my name is Jacob and I have a question I hope someone can help me with. Recently my high school got new laptops (Lenovos running Windows 10 Education series), and almost every student has been having an issue with a flickering screen. It seems to happen to them regularly while charging and when not, when running no applications (other than background processes), and is not fixed by restarting. I've checked their laptops for updates, tried adjusting refresh rate settings, and more. I started checking the Control Panel on every device with the issue and they all have one or more driver updates that need installation. My school district uses Microsoft Azure AD to manage student devices and employee devices. I work in my school's tech department and we are constantly updating drivers. It's a tedious process and requires entering the administrative account information every time we do so. I am wondering if there is a script we can run to automatically check for and install driver updates. I understand that any such script would likely need to be configured with the proper parameters for our devices to be effective. We have the method to remotely access all district devices, so we can push the script file to all of the student devices if needed. I would appreciate any help or advice you can give on the subject. We can also force Windows updates remotely, so my understanding is that we could remotely force any scripts to run. I apologize for the poor wording in my question, I am fairly new to the IS and IT community. Up until two years ago, I was entirely self-taught. If you would need any more information to answer this question please reply, as I will be checking this quite often for any updates. Thanks, have a great day!
