Desktop Shortcuts are Gone After Adding Yesterday

I was given a Windows 2016 Server for my development work. I logged in and started to customize the server including adding several desktop shortcuts. I also connected my Onedrive account. Everything was working great. I closed the connection. Today, when I connected back in, the Desktop shortcuts were gone. What happened? Why is that? I definitely logged in with the same account. How do I fix this?
