So my workplace does not have Teams. But I need it for another side of my work, so I created my teams account, but I had created it as personal rather than workplace and now I cannot join a teams account that I have a code for. What do I do?
No, I have one account because my workplace does not have an account for us. But when I created it, it made me make the personal account rather than a workplace because the workplace needed to be set up by IT. The other side of my workplace, the state portion, has sent me a code to join their team, but it wouldn't let me add them. We have now found a work around that just allows me to join as a guest.

In your scenario, you cannot join the team by code because you have no tenant and your account can just be added a guest to access team resources of other tenants. The following image captured from this official document shows the reason.

Do you mean that you have two Teams accounts, one for personal and another for business?
And what is your real problem now? Cannot sign in Teams client with your business account?
