TIA.

Hello

Thanks for providing additional information.

OneDrive is a cloud storage service offered by Microsoft as part of its Office Suite, including Microsoft Office 2016. By default, when you share a file or folder in OneDrive, the sharing permissions are set to "Anyone with the link can edit," which allows anyone who has the link to access the file and make changes to it. This is a useful feature for collaboration and sharing with others, but it can also pose a security risk if the file contains sensitive information.

To address this risk, you can change the sharing permissions to "Anyone with the link can view," which restricts access to read-only. This means that anyone with the link will be able to see the file, but they won't be able to make any changes to it. To change the sharing permissions, you can right-click on the file or folder you want to share, select "Share," and then adjust the sharing settings as desired.

It's worth noting that the default sharing setting in OneDrive is determined by Microsoft, and it may be changed in future releases of the software. However, as a user, you have control over the sharing settings and can adjust them to meet your security needs.

I hope this information helps.

Regards,

Abdal

    Pretty long huh?

So the answer is no then.

Well, while sharing is useful, what I'm saying is that it should not be that anyone can edit to be the default!

    So I'll mark your answer.

    Here’s a screen copy:

Shouldn't the default value be 'Anyone can read' being safer.

    OK.

My Office App is MS Office 2016.

    My PC says its processor is Intel(R) Core(TM) i7-7700 CPU @ 3.60GHz   3.60 GHz

Installed RAM is 8.00 GB (7.89 GB usable)

System type is 64-bit operating system, x64-based processor

My question would be about the sharing function in OneDrive.

That its default value says ‘Anyone can edit’.  And I would still have to click and change the default value to read the safer value ‘Anyone can read’.

Shouldn’t that be the default value?
