    Hi Lauren,

Thanks for posting in the community. We are happy to help you.

According to your description, please try the following suggestions to troubleshoot the situation.

    1. Please try to update Excel to the latest version. After that, please check again.
    2. Please move the cache folder to Desktop, then check again

    Close and quit Excel

Use Finder, click Go, go to ~/Library/Containers/, move the folder Microsoft Excel to Desktop, then run Excel and test again.

If the situation still happens after trying the above suggestions, I would like to collect more information.

    1. Does the situation only happen to Word or also happen to other Office applications, like Excel?

We look forward to your response. Thanks for your cooperation.

    Sincerely,

    George | Microsoft Community Moderator

It appears that an update to Excel did not complete.

Use the Menu Bar and choose Help > Check for Updates. This should reinstall the current update.

Are you facing this problem with other Microsoft Office products too?

    Since when this problem started?

Did you install any program before this problem started?

Does it happen for some Excel file or for all or when you open Microsoft Office Excel?
