Excel is freezing (not responding) when copy and paste.

Question

On my worksheet, I like to copy and paste 4 or 5 rows at a time to eliminate having to type same info out week after week. This past few months, when I do, it freezes. The wheel turns and says "excel not responding." I have to go completely out, and when I do it again, it does it again. I've done copy and pasting for years. What has changed or is happening here?

In my case for some reason every time I copy-paste Excel tries to access the default printer. It took me a long time to realize there was a little notification on the left bottom corner. After changing the default printer to "Microsoft Print to PDF" Excel stopped freezing.

I have the same issue, but cannot run as admin due to company policies.

I had the same infuriating issue. I found a resolution in another post, which said to always run Excel by choosing the "run as administrator" option. I found another link that told how to modify the shortcut to always run as administrator without having to right-click, run as administrator every time.

Here are the steps to permanently set excel to run as administrator when using your shortcut:

• Right-click the app shortcut and select Properties.
• Click on the Shortcut tab.
• Click the Advanced button.
• Check the Run as administrator option.
• Click the OK button.
• Click the Apply button.
• Click the OK button.

Having the same issue and I did the run as admin thing - still freezes occasionally after I have copied something and before I can paste it.

Running W11 and O365 and this issue requires resolving by MS as I am unable to run as admin due to company restrictions
