Excel is freezing (not responding) when copy and paste.

Question

On my worksheet, I like to copy and paste 4 or 5 rows at a time to eliminate having to type same info out week after week. This past few months, when I do, it freezes. The wheel turns and says "excel not responding." I have to go completely out, and when I do it again, it does it again. I've done copy and pasting for years. What has changed or is happening here?

Thanks S Gibbens. I checked this out and I am the Local Account Administrator on the home pc that I share with my husband who has his own logon.

Would you be able to suggest anything further about this issue?

It works for me only if I run as administrator, the issue is that if I open an extra file attached to an email or a file from the file explorer, then a new session of Excel is opened and the issue starts again. Only option is to open Excel as administrator and continue opening any additional file from the same session of Excel which is very frustrating and time consuming because i need to open files shared in Teams or from a SharePoint or sent by email. It is really annoying to waste time just because it is a new version of Excel, never had an issue like this with any previous other versions of Office

I wasn't able to reproduce this, but it seems consistent with what I've seen before, so maybe it just doesn't happen every time?

Either that, or MSFT patched it in the last week or two, because I've been experiencing the freezing fairly consistently in the last few months.

Hi S Gibbens,

I tried your suggestion dated 22 Dec 2023 but found that the box for Run as administrator was greyed out. Please could you advise about this.
