OneDrive: how to do an intra-file search for a keyword in a folder with many files without opening the files one by one

Hello!

I have a folder in OneDrive with hundreds of files in it. I am looking for files with a specific keyword/phrase written in them (not just in the title). Is there a way to do an intra-file search on a folder to pull up the specific files that have that keyword/phrase? I tried using the search bar, but too many files are popping up when I know that they do not have that keyword/phrase.

Please advise.

Thank you!

This does not help there is no damn filter option. I wish that people who write this stuff would be very clear.

This does not work. Don't know if something broke search or not.

I found my keyword in a PDF. Entered the directory containing said PDF and typed my keyword into the search bar. No results were found.

The search needs to be done in a folder via the Onedrive APP, not by going to the Onedrive website. Please help with this!

    Hi

I'm Taiwo and I'd be happy to help you with your question. In this Forum, We are Microsoft consumers just like yourself.

To perform an intra-file search for a keyword in a folder with many files on OneDrive, you can use the search function provided by OneDrive. Here's how you can do it:

    1. Go to the OneDrive website and sign in to your account.
    2. Navigate to the folder where you want to search for the keyword.
    3. Click on the search bar located at the top of the page.
    4. Type in the keyword that you want to search for and press enter.
    5. OneDrive will display all the files that contain the keyword in their names or contents.
    6. To filter the search results, you can click on the "Filter" button located on the right side of the page and choose to search only for specific file types or dates.
    7. Once you have found the file you are looking for, you can click on it to open it or download it to your computer.

By using this search function, you can easily find the file you are looking for without having to open each file one by one.

I hope this helps ;-), let me know if this is contrary to what you need, I would still be helpful to answer more of your questions.

    Best Regards, Thank You.
