Need Help saving Images at High Res and Saving Transparent PNGS

Greetings I have a question for both Mac and Windows versions of PowerPoint.

When exporting the slides in JPG format - the resolution is very low.

QUESTION 1: In Windows and In Mac, how do I save JPGS at high resolution. Even if I save in PNG format, the resolution is not much better. Without going into the computer's registry, is there a setting to save images at higher resolution?

QUESTION 2: How do I save my slids with TRANSPARENT backgrounds? They export with white backgrounds. When I drag my mouse over all the elements on the slide and "Save as Picture" that is the only way I've found to do this - but that is quite time-consuming.

Also - the PNGs saved as picture, while higher resolution than the JPGs, are still not high resolution. I'd be grateful for your support with this issue.

Thank you.

Dee

    >> So in essence we need to change the settings in the computer's registry to save high resolution images in Windows? Is that correct?

Not entirely. Have a look here: https://pptfaq.com/FAQ00052_Improve_PowerPoint-s_GIF-_BMP-_PNG-_JPG_export_resolution.htm Among other things, there's VBA code there that you can use to export at any resolution up to PPT's limit, which is quite high nowadays.

The code works for Windows PPT, might need some adjustments for Mac.

PPT won't export images with an alpha channel (ie, with transparency) but you can open the exported images in any decent image editing program and resave with transparency (IrfanView is free from irfanview.com and does a nice job of this).

Thank you very much John. So in essence we need to change the settings in the computer's registry to save high resolution images in Windows? Is that correct?

What about on a Mac? Is there a way to save high res images in PowerPoint for Mac? And... aside from right-clicking on a slides to "save as picture" on a Mac, is there any way to export images in PNG format with a transparent background?

    Much thanks,

    Dee

Here's how to change the export resolution in PowerPoint for Windows: How to export high-resolution (high-dpi) slides from PowerPoint

Just as it's not possible to have PowerPoint slide with a transparent background, it's not possible to export those slides with a transparent background.
