Word keeps on closing suddenly and anything I was working on is lost. When I open the recent file it is a blank page. Does not matter whether autosave is on or not. But certainly worse with autosave on.

    Hi Mike

I'm AnnaThomas and I'd happily help you with your question. In this Forum, we are Microsoft consumers just like yourself.

Sorry for the trouble this might have caused. There are a few things you can try to troubleshoot this issue:

Make sure that your version of Word is up to date with the latest updates.

Try running Word in Safe Mode to see if the issue persists. To do this, hold down the Ctrl key while starting Word. This will start Word with no add-ins or templates loaded.

If the issue does not occur in Safe Mode, it’s possible that an add-in or template is causing the problem. You can try disabling add-ins one by one to see if that resolves the issue. To do this, go to File > Options > Add-ins. In the Manage box, select COM Add-ins and click Go. Uncheck the box next to each add-in to disable it, then restart Word and see if the issue persists.

If the issue still occurs, you can try repairing your Office installation by going to Control Panel > Programs and Features, selecting your Office installation, and clicking Change. Then, select Quick Repair or Online Repair.

I hope this helps ;-), let me know if this is contrary to what you need, I would still be helpful to answer more of your questions.

    Best Regards,

    AnnaThomas
