Data Types (Stock) on Mac version of Excel went missing after upgrade of Office

Question

I can no longer use the stock data type on the natively installed version of the Excel. I built a file couple of weeks ago and was able to access it, but then an update was installed, and since then i can no longer 'refresh' the stock price . When i moved this file to my onedrive, i was able to see the stock data type and upsate the value. This is really not what i'm looking to do as the file contains confidential financial data that i would rather keep on my local Mac instead on OneDrive

Looking the web, i found a similar problem and tried to follow the recommendation on the thread, but this one didn't work for me (I also didn't see a folder called com.Microsoft.Excel under the Containers folder on my mac) https://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/msoffice/forum/all/excel-for-mac-data-types-not-showing-up-under-data/c2fc2d48-7dbb-401c-9ab3-15a76d0078cf

I have also uninstalled and reinstalled the MS Office on my Mac, checked the Language Setting. reset the Ribbon & Toolbar under the Excel Preferences (based on recommendation of the thread/similar above. Rebooted my Mac (multiple times), including in (Mac version of) SafeMode - So far, nothing has caused the Data Types to reappear

What I have:

• 16-inch 2021 Macbook Pro; MacOS: Ventura 13.3.1
• Microsoft Excel for Mac version 16.72 (23040900)
• License: Microsoft 365 Subscription (Microsoft 365 Personal)

Glad to hear that roll back update helps. If I receive any update from Microsoft or any other one meet same issue, I will tell you.

Quick update. I uninstalled MS Office on my Mac and installed the March 14, 2023 version (16.71) of Office for mac (https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/officeupdates/update-history-office-for-mac) - And was happy to see the Data Types show back up!!!

PS: I had to quickly disable to automatic update as soon as the install was done...

I would likely stay away from automatic update for sometime now.. and will start only manually updating... which is really sad in a way!

The link returned the exact same string as in the screenshot you posted ({"domainids":[268435456,536870912]}) - I'm going to try to roll back to an earlier version of Office to see if it is indeed related to the Office version...

Test the connection

There’s an undocumented link that does a simple test of the connection to the Linked Data Types servers. Try this link in your browser.

https://enrichment.osi.office.net/OfficeEnrichment/ipcheck/v1

you should see a result like this but with different numbers. A result with two numbers suggests that the link to Microsoft is OK and the problem is probably with Excel software not the connection.

If there’s no result or an error, there’s a problem reaching Microsoft’s servers.

A blank result {“domainids”:{}} means the server is connecting but there’s no proper response.

If the connection is OK, try roll back the office version temporary and wait the Microsoft to repair it.
