Is Microsoft 365 Defender only supporting users with an eligible license?

Hello,

I work for an MSP and have been doing research into MS 365 Defender for Office.

Can someone please explain to me if MS 365 Defender is only activated for uses with an eligible license like Business Premium, or is it available to any user in the organization?

I'm asking because I would like to activate the product for a small business and need to know if I need to upgrade just the admin account or all accounts in the organization to reap the benefits of MS 365 Defender.

Please get back to me as soon as possible as I have a deadline to implement.

Thank you in advance!

    Hello Dylan

Microsoft 365 Defender for Office is licensed per user - so each account needs a license. It is included in some licenses -

Microsoft Defender for Office 365 Plan 2 is included in Office 365 E5, Office 365 A5, and Microsoft 365 E5. Microsoft Defender for Office 365 Plan 1 is included in Microsoft 365 Business Premium.
