Hello,

I've been facing this problem for 3 months already. When I try to copy data in EXCEL 365, there have always been green rectangular dot pattern in Excel as shown in picture below.

I have already created the question yesterday and it got deleted. Also, I created the question 3 month ago but no solution yet.

The answer I got was, I need to reinstall the Excel which I did but not help.

I wish it will not get deleted again.

This is not thread but it is happening in my computer.

I wish some solution because I've been scared by these already ....

Version I used : Microsoft® Excel® for Microsoft 365 MSO (Version 2308 Build 16.0.16731.20310) 64-bit

    Hello,

    Thank you for your reply.

I previously used Excel 2016 prior to Excel 365 which has been installed for 3 months. In Excel 2016, nothing like this happened and I can say that I always do the same behavior that create the green dots in Excel 365 but not in Excel 2016

Firstly, I want to inform about the how the green dot appears.

    • The green dots will appear when I ctrl + c but not yet paste and I go to another sheet in workbook, green dots appear in the blank sheet but they easily disappear just moving the mouse to the cell or scroll down
    • The green dots also appears when I copy but not yet paste and go back and forth between sheets in workbook.
    • The green dots also appears when I zoom in and zoom out within the worksheet while there is data pending to paste.

All in all, I think there must be the covering data to copy that make the green dot line and area appear first and it will trigger the bug or whatever and cause the group of green dots when trying to ctrl + V

Please find my responses in red below

    What add-ins have you installed?

    • I did not install any add-in. I run normal exel 365. Also, it happens in safe-mode.

From where are you copying the data to paste?

    • From within a workbook to paste into another new sheet in same workbook

Are you pasting over one cell or multiple cells?

-Multiple (but one cell it also appears but smaller group of green dots appears)

Are you pasting text into the cell using the formula edit field?

    • I am not sure what formula edit field mean but please refer to cases on how green dots appear

What happens when you save a workbook containing the green dots and open it the same computer or on another computer?

    • Green dots can easily be removed by scroll down have the mouse clicked at it.

Does this happen with any workbook?

    • It happens to all excel workbooks in my computer. Even the file with minimal data, it also appears if I do the same transaction i.e. ctrl +c

Can you save a workbook with some of these green dots and post it on a file sharing service so we can take a look at it?

    • I can but since it happens to every excel file I have, you can try repeat what I did (could you help create private message and I will send my video of how it happen). I only ctrl + c and created another sheet without pasting it yet, and went back and forth between sheet or zoomed in or out, it triggered the green pattern. The larger the file/the more the data, the larger group of green dots.

The one I took screen shot are those having more than 10K excel rows which I tried to copy only data I filtered into another sheet.

please help do something about this.

    thank you so much

    best regards

That's some crazy behavior! I've never seen anything like it.

It looks like it's a character being pasted into a cell.

Given that you uninstalled and reinstalled Excel without solving the problem, the problem may be more systemic - in other words, something like an add-in or a problem with your Windows installation.

    What add-ins have you installed?

From where are you copying the data to paste?

Are you pasting over one cell or multiple cells?

Are you pasting text into the cell using the formula edit field?

What happens when you save a workbook containing the green dots and open it the same computer or on another computer?

Does this happen with any workbook?

Can you save a workbook with some of these green dots and post it on a file sharing service so we can take a look at it?
