How to force the Edge home button to use the defined Home Page URL

Hi all,

Thanks in advance for taking the time to read my issue here, I'm hoping I'm missing something obvious.

We are using Intune policies to control certain things and push certain settings we would like to our userbase. One of these is pushing our company Intranet as the home page in Edge.

  • Home page to be the intranet
  • Home button to go to the intranet
  • New tab page to open the default new-tab page
  • Launching Edge to restore last session tabs

We have set up these policies in Intune apply these settings:

We can see this is applying properly in Edge by checking the Edge://Policy page.

When testing this the restore on startup option works fine, and we can see in the "Appearance settings" gui section that the home page URL has been set. Sadly the home button defaults to the new-tab page instead of the defined URL, as below.

Now we can manually switch this over, but not ideal for applying to a larger userbase. I cannot for the life of me find a policy to force the Edge home button to use the defined home page URL.

Any help will be much appreciated.

Kind regards,
Ross

@Ross Lyons Thanks for posting in our Q&A.

For this issue, I have done the test in my lab. It shows the same results as yours. It still shows the new page URL and is needed to switch manually. It seems an issue.

In 2022, using Settings Catalog - this works for me. :)

    Then define these settings :

Set the new tab page as the home page - Disabled
Configure the home page URL - Enabled
Home page URL (Device) - https://google.com
