Hi,

I have Office 365 and I Love it. Recently I added my wife as a family member. An email invitation was sent to her which she accepted it.

Once she accepted and signed into OneDrive, she is able to see all files and folder which were in my One Drive. Also, she has her own folders and Files in her Onedrive which I am not able to see. Hence, I would like to understand

a. How to limit other family members to see files and folders which are are in my OneDrive? All I did was added my wife and kids to Microsoft family section

b. How I can selectively share (either as read only or with full access)some folders and files so we can collaborate.

c. Does each family member get 1TB of space or 1TB is shared amongst all members?

PS : I primary don't use web versions of Office 365. All primary software (Outlook, OneDrive, Office) are installed on our Win11.

Regards,

Vikram

    Hi Vikram,

Thanks for contacting us, I'll be glad to help with your question.

    a. To limit other family members to see files and folders in your OneDrive, you can use the family and group sharing feature. This allows you to share files and folders with a predefined family or friend group with one click. You can also choose who can view or edit the shared items. To set up your family group, go to family.microsoft.com and follow the instructions. To share files and folders with your family group, go to OneDrive and select the items you want to share, then select Share at the top of the page. In the Enter a name or email address field, type "Family" or the name of your group. You can also select specific members or your entire family. Add an optional message and then send the share link.

    b. To selectively share some folders and files with read-only or full access, you can use the same family and group sharing feature. When you share files and folders with your family group, you can change the permission level by selecting Anyone with the link can edit. You can then choose whether you want to allow editing or not. You can also set an expiration date or a password for the link.

    c. Each family member gets 1TB of space in OneDrive if they have a Microsoft 365 Personal or Family plan. If you have a Microsoft 365 Family plan, you can share it with up to five other people in your family group. Each person will have their own 1TB of OneDrive storage and access to the Office apps. To share your Microsoft 365 Family plan, go to account.microsoft.com and sign in with your Microsoft account. Select Services & subscriptions, then select Share with your family. Follow the instructions to invite your family members and manage their access.

Let me know if this helps or if you need further assistance.

    Regards, Sola
