All Microsoft Office programs work except word (on MacBook)

All of a sudden my Word program stopped working. All ares are greyed out and won't allow me to edit in any capacity. It won't even allow me to change permissions and when I try to type in the text area, a message at the bottom of the screen appears and says " You can't make this change because the selection is locked". I've reinstalled the program, made sure it and my computer are both updated, signed into MS 365 and nothing seems to work.

Everything was working perfectly fine yesterday and then all of a sudden, nothing.

Any help would be greatly appreciated, thanks!

Use the Menu Bar and choose Word > About Microsoft Word. The version and license type will display. What does it say for your license type?

Did you try restarting your Mac?
