Numbered Lists - Spacing

The numbered list I have recreated is 150 items long. The phrase that follows item number 100 is indented further to the right than item number 99 (and all preceding numbers). How can I adjust the spacing for numbers 1 to 99 to match item 100? I think the screenshot below shows my problem.

Thank you for your help.

Greetings! I am Ajibola, eager to assist you with confidence and assertiveness. I guarantee to provide you with exceptional support.

To fix this, you can adjust the list indents and change the option for "Follow number with" to space or nothing. Here are the steps to do this:

    • Right-click on any number in the numbered list and select Adjust List Indents.

    • In the dialogue box, choose the More option if available.

    • At the bottom right, find the Follow number and change the selected item to space or nothing.

    • Click OK to apply the changes

To add to what Doug has said, in such lists I like to have the numbers right-aligned so that they align on the period following the number. This requires a little trial and error to find just the right position for the number (to accommodate up to three digits) and the indent and tab stop.

@Ajibola Olanipekun has given you only part of each of the two possible solutions that may be applicable.

If it is just a simple, single level list, right click on a number in the list and then left click on Adjust List Indents and increase the value for the text indent and check the box for Add tab stop at: to match the dimension of the Text indent.

If youhave a multi-level list, select an item in the top numbering level and then on the Home tab of the ribbon, access the Multilevel List dropdown

and then click on Define New Multilevel List item

and in the Define new Multilevel list dialog, select the numbering level concerned and adjust the Text indent at setting and also the tab stop position
