Teams on Android ALWAYS fails to switch between Personal and Work accounts

Very frustrated with Teams since personal Teams is now merged with Work Teams on Android. I don't understand why this is better than having 2 separate apps, which I could then multitask. Instead, now I can only have one active it a time, which reduced productivity. Far more serious though, when I hit my account icon and select the Personal or Work account (the opposite of whichever I'm currently using), it moves the checkmark as if it has changed the active account, but the Chat and other options in the window do NOT change. For example, if I had been chatting with my wife, then switch to Work account, the Chat window still shows my wife and other personal chat options, not my list of co-worker chats.

Sometimes, if I keep toggling back and forth between accounts, the main window will eventually update and show the correct view. However, the always faster and more reliable is to just quit and restart Teams. If I do that, then it always re-opens to the currently selected account (Work or Personal). But this effectively means that to change between Work and Personal, I need to hit the account icon, select the other account, close Teams, and re-open Teams. I MUST PERFORM ALL OF THOSE STEPS EVERY TIME JUST TO CHAT WITH 2 PEOPLE (if one is Personal and one is Work)!

Because I use Teams for voice calls, I also have to do this every time I want to check my voicemail.

I have tried clearing the data and removing all accounts and re-adding them. None of this helps. Problem seems endemic to the app. I can't actually uninstall the app and reinstall it, because I'm using a Microsoft Surface Duo 2 phone, with Teams as a built-in app that can't be uninstalled. Still, clearing data and removing and re-adding the accounts should have the same effect.

I don't see many reports of this. Is that because others don't have this problem, or just that there are so few people using Teams Personal that no one notices this bug? Is there any way to avoid this problem of Teams not switching properly between Work and Personal accounts on Android?

I should have added a disclaimer.

Anyway there is no loss of functionality worse than not functioning at all.

Also ApkMirror is imho a well-known and trusted source in the Android scene.

Thank you for the response. Note that while removing an account would solve the problem with switching between them, it also makes it impossible to access that account at all. The best work-around I have now is:

    1. Change accounts under the account menu. This will move the check mark to the correct account, but nothing else changes and the app is still using the original account, even though the check mark moves.
    2. Close Teams (don't just minimize it, must close it)
    3. Reopen Teams. It will now open using the correct account checked in #1 above.

This is not a good work-around, but it's a lot faster than removing an account and re-adding an account back every time you want to switch accounts.

We tried to cooperate with Microsoft who told us with Windows 11 that we were supposed to replace Skype with Teams Personal for our personal family communications. This is because Windows 10 included Skype as the built-in communications app. In Windows 11, it changed to Teams Personal. That would be fine IF IT WORKED. Worse, even if we want to switch back to Skype, because it's not built into Windows 11 like Teams Personal, we still have the Teams Personal prominently displayed on the Taskbar.

I love Work Teams -- best work communication and collab app every created. I also have nothing against Teams Personal as a family communications tool. It's fast and easy to use and is a fine replacement for Skype (but why Skype needed to be replaced is beyond me). The problem is that while Teams Work and Teams Personal are separate apps on Windows, which is good, they are squashed together and broken in the Android app as described above. If you have a Teams Personal account on Android, it breaks your Teams Work account on Android and vice versa.
