We have the exact same issue, very interested of this is a common issue and if someone has resolved this.
Think we are going to open a pro support case as gets more and more inconvenient over time.
Pre-Installing Printer Driver for users post KB5005031 and it windows still asks for administrator privileges.
Post KB5005031 and my environment doesn't allow us to bypass the admin requirement for print driver install. No problem right, I just remotely pre-install the driver on all systems so when the user goes to connect, the driver is already installed. The remote install goes fine, I can see the driver in the remote system print server properties but when the user goes to connect they still get an admin prompt to install the driver and if cancelled, the printer does not install.
I have tried multiple methods of installing the driver, adding the system to print management and installing driver, using printui.dll,PrintUIEntry to script the install and in all instances, the driver shows up but isn't actually able to be used when selecting the printer off the Print server.
I did try to use printui.dll,PrintUIEntry to just add the printer from the print server but it appears that you can only use it to add a shared printer to the workstation itself, not connect to a shared printer on another system. But there is always the possibility that I am just real bad at this.
