Hey I am trying to figure out the right permission settings for my users so that they can upload files to a library and to only be able to edit the files that they uploaded. The only option that I am seeing is all or nothing... :-(

    Dear Julien Van De Casteele,

Good day. Thank you for posting to Microsoft Community.

Based on your description, you want to have a setting that only allows users to edit files that they upload.

You can't satisfy your requirement in the document library, but you can do so by editing permissions on a per-file. here is the step for you reference:

    1. Navigate to the SharePoint site and Document Library.
    2. Right-click the file > Manage access > click on the three dots in the top right corner of the pop-up window > Advance settings > Stop Inheriting Permissions.
    3. Remove all users’ permission, and then select Grant Permission. Enter the file owner > Share.

If you want other users to be able to read this document, you can grant them permission one-by-one.

You need to open the Permission level page and select the user > Edit user Permissions.

Also, I recommend you try posting in Microsoft Q&A Community and check if any PowerShell or customized solution could meet your requirement. Hey Claire, thanks for the feedback, so I understand that it cannot be set automatically, and setting this manually for each file is not sustainable... I wonder now, would I be able to give edit permissions using a PowerAutomate flow?

    Dear Julien Van De Casteele,

    Thank you for following up.

As this forum has limited resource, and if you would like to learn more about whether Power Automate can customize the content of SharePoint site permissions, I recommend you try posting in Power Automate Community to seek further help. Thank you for your time and patience.
