OneDrive Storage reduced (MS 365 education)

Hi,

I just realized/saw MS decided to reduce storage from 1TB to 100GB for OneDrive MS 365 education.

But what will happen if there is already over 100GB data. Are those data will be there forever? Or randomly one day MS will say, Can't keep your data. After all, MS suddenly wanted to reduce 1TB to 100GB.

    Good day!!

    Apologies for the inconvenience caused and please don’t worry, let’s work together on your concern and move towards a resolution path.

    I understand your concern and to my knowledge, if you are exceeded with the more storage than allocated OneDrive for Business storage, the content in the OneDrive for Business will be read-only mode, where the users can only delete or download the data from the OneDrive for Business, but Microsoft will not delete the users OneDrive for Business data.

    However, I would like to convey that the limit in the OneDrive for Business storage for the Educational Users to 100 GB is applied to the users who are assigned with Office 365 A1 license: Storage Changes for Microsoft 365 Education | Microsoft Education

    Moreover, the Office 365 accounts of Educational Institutions are managed by the IT admins of the Education Institutions. So, I request you to check the license assigned to you in your subscriptions page of your Office 365 account:

    Open the browser such as Google Chrome> Click on the three dots at the top right> New Incognito window> Access https://portal.office.com > Enter Office 365 account details> Click on the profile picture at the top right (beside the question mark icon)> View Account> Scroll little down and click on Subscriptions> See whether the mentioned license is listed in the user Subscriptions page.

    If you are assigned with Office 365 A1, please connect with the admin of your Educational Institution and request them to change the license so that you can use more than 100 GB for storage. How do I find my Microsoft 365 admin? - Microsoft Support
