Microsoft Authenticator "Something went wrong" error when trying to enable phone sign-in

Somehow phone sign-in no longer works on Microsoft Authenticator on Android. Originally a message popped up saying that my lock screen changed and I needed to re-enable phone sign-in (I never even changed the lock screen). Then, after spending hours trying different things, logging out, logging back in, I still get the same error.

Every time I click Enable Phone Sigin-In, I get the error "Something went wrong". What can I do to fix this? Please help.

    I solved it, here are the steps:

    1. Sign-In to your microsoft account;
    2. Go to Security tab and click on Manage how I sign in;
    3. Disable Send sign-in notification;
    4. Disable Passwordless account if enabled;
    5. Disable Two-step verification if enabled;
    6. On your phone open Microsoft Authenticator and delete the account;
    7. Clean the cache of the app and force close of the app;
    8. Reboot the phone;
    9. Re-enable all previous settings;

    This will clean all the data I have with Authenticator. Is there a better solution we can use? This issue is very frustrating.
