Map OneDrive (Sharepoint) as a network folder in File Explorer

Hello.

I want to map my OneDrive folder as network drive (O:).

I found this example below,

How to Map OneDrive to File Explorer as Network Drive [2024]

It requires copying the CID from the onedrive.live.com URL when signed in from a browser. But when I sign in to OneDrive, the URL is actually https://[OrganizationName].sharepoint.com/". I do not see the CID=E... portion in the URL as suggested by the above example.

Do I just need to determine my CID by some other means and stick it after "https://d.docs.live.net/" like in the example, or do I need a different approach altogether?

Many thanks for any assistance.

Regards,

    Dear Rafael,

Good day! Thank you for posting to Microsoft Community. We are happy to help you.

Thank you for reaching out regarding the issue with mapping OneDrive for Business as a network drive. Based on our recent tests and the latest information, it appears that this feature is no longer supported for OneDrive for business. We understand how important this functionality is for your workflow and apologize for any inconvenience this may cause.

If you are willing, you can use the Sync with OneDrive Sync Client to access your files directly from File Explorer. If you haven't downloaded the OneDrive sync client yet, you can easily do so by following these steps:

    1. Install OneDrive: If you don't already have it, download, and install the OneDrive sync client from the Microsoft OneDrive website.
    2. Sign In: Open the OneDrive app and sign in with your Microsoft account.
    3. Choose Folders to Sync: During setup, choose the folders you want to sync to your computer. These folders will appear in File Explorer under "OneDrive".
    4. Access Files: You can now access your OneDrive files directly from File Explorer without needing to map it as a network drive.

To help improve OneDrive and potentially bring back this feature, we encourage you to provide feedback directly to Microsoft. Here are a few ways you can do this:

    1. Using the OneDrive App:
    2. Desktop: Right-click the OneDrive cloud icon in the system tray, select Settings & More, then choose Feedback.
    3. Mobile: Open the OneDrive app, tap on Me, then select Help & Feedback.

You are invited to cast your valuable vote on the feedback post located in the OneDrive Feedback Community: Bring back map Onedrive as network drive · Community

We're here to assist you whenever you're ready. Have a great day and take care! 😊

    Sincerely

    Hello Naren,

Excellent response, thank you. My interest was so I could perform a search from This PC and have it look into my synced OneDrive folders, too. I just realized that all my synced OneDrive files get stored in C:\Users[ME][OneDrive-Organization-Name], so it is already checking here.

    Regards,
