Is Microsoft Support and Recovery Assistant (SaRA) Dead? November 2024. I see its migrated to Get Help.

I can't seem to open it anymore.

It was my very effective tool to troubleshoot Office application problems.

Can you help provide alternatives? and must be a Microsoft product like SaRa.

I tried this for quite a while and all I could do with GET HELP was produce links to articles to read, they completely screwed it I am furious, please give EXACT instructions on how to open the troubleshooter instead of just getting links to stupid help articles online- that do not help.

    Dear Cebu ITGeeks,

Thank you so much for your question regarding the discontinuation of Microsoft Support and Recovery Assistant (SaRA). As you’ve noted, SaRA has been integrated into the Get Help app in Windows. While SaRA was practical for troubleshooting Office issues, the Get Help app now provides a similar and broader range of solutions. Here’s what you can do:

    1. Use the Get Help App

    • The Get Help app is built into Windows and serves as the replacement for SaRA.

    • Open the Start Menu, type “Get Help,” and launch the app.

    • Follow the prompts to describe your issue, and the app will guide you to relevant troubleshooting tools.

    1. Office Troubleshooting in Get Help

    • The app includes specific troubleshooters for Office products, covering common issues like installation, activation, and performance problems.

    1. Microsoft 365 Admin Center (for Organizations)

    • The Microsoft 365 Admin Center includes diagnostic tools for account and service issues, which help troubleshoot for organizations.

    1. Alternative Microsoft Tools

Microsoft Support Diagnostic Tool (MSDT): MSDT provides detailed troubleshooting steps for Windows-related issues.

Office Repair Feature: Accessible via the Control Panel; this can resolve common Office application issues.

    1. Contact Microsoft Support

    • If the Get Help app or other tools do not resolve your issue, you can use the app to escalate your request to a Microsoft Support representative.

Feel free to let me know if you need guidance on using these tools or further assistance.

    Kind regards,

    Yuki

Edit: I might be looking in the wrong direction or cannot find the localised appname.

It looks to me that the 'Get Help App' isnt available in Windows 10?

I recently started to see that SaRa isn't working anymore and am redirected to such Get Help App but I can't find it when using Windows 10.

As an MSP I do support some Windows 10 installations but can't confirm that the app is indeed missing, just can't find it.

Would love to hear if such app is available for Windows 10 -> Get Help App.

Guess this is the location of the executable Windows 11:
    C:\Program Files\WindowsApps\Microsoft.GetHelp_10.2409.22951.0_x64__8wekyb3d8bbwe\GetHelp.exe

    On Windows 10:

    PS C:\Program Files\WindowsApps\Microsoft.GetHelp_10.2409.22951.0_neutral_~_8wekyb3d8bbwe> dir

      Directory: C:\Program Files\WindowsApps\Microsoft.GetHelp\_10.2409.22951.0\_neutral\_~\_8wekyb3d8bbwe

    Mode LastWriteTime Length Name

    d----- 1-11-2024 14:02 AppxMetadata

    -a---- 1-11-2024 14:02 338 AppxBlockMap.xml

    -a---- 1-11-2024 14:02 12244 AppxSignature.p7x

    PS C:\Program Files\WindowsApps\Microsoft.GetHelp_10.2409.22951.0_neutral_~_8wekyb3d8bbwe>

Or 'our' Windows 10 installations are different or it's missing by default?

Well I guess tou have to install it from the Microsoft Store. At first I could not find the app but I shared an installed app to obtain the store URL:

    Microsoft Get Help app:

    https://apps.microsoft.com/detail/9pkdzbmv1h3t

    After installing on Windows 10:

    PS C:\Program Files\WindowsApps> dir *help*

    Directory: C:\Program Files\WindowsApps

    Mode LastWriteTime Length Name

    d----- 26-11-2024 13:53 Microsoft.GetHelp_10.2409.22951.0_neutral_~_8wekyb3d8bbwe

    d----- 26-11-2024 13:53 Microsoft.GetHelp_10.2409.22951.0_x64__8wekyb3d8bbwe

I can start Get Help now on Windows 10 :) but RDS Servers are out of luck I guess :(

I have a 2019 terminal server and none of these are working! I'm getting error 1001. Contacting support takes days I'm busy and don't have time for this nonsense.
