Export SharePoint folder structure/hierarchy

Question

Hello,

I am working on adjusting and reorganizing our foldering strcture in SharePoint and need to see the full layout of all of folder and subfolders currently.

I've done the export to excel feature but this gives me a long list of all the files themselves. I am less interested in file-level data, but instead want to see almost a site map showing the org structure of the folder names down through all subfolder names.

Is there a way to export this with a hierarchy display?

Based on my research, there is no built-in feature/setting that can directly meet your needs. There are two possible workarounds, running a PowerShell script or using the SharePoint migration tool to get all folder structures at the site collection level or organization level.

For the SharePoint migration tool, some third-party tools designed for SharePoint migration that can also export folder structures.

For the PowerShell script, I have tried to write relevant PowerShell scripts but failed to get all folder structures at the site collection level or organization level. Since the PowerShell script can be coded for different needs, and we have a specific channel Microsoft Q&A Community coping with such PowerShell script questions, you can post a new thread (click "Ask a question" and add the tag SharePoint Development) there for expert help.
