Issue with Slide Transition Timing in PowerPoint

I am experiencing an issue with slide transitions and animation timing in PowerPoint. After adding animations to my slides, the transition to the next slide is delayed by approximately 1 second.

I have used the "Rehearse Timings" feature, setting the slide to transition at, for example, the 15-second mark. However, during the "Slide Show" mode, I notice a delay in transitioning to the next slide. The more animations I add, the longer the delay. For instance, if there is one animation, the slide transitions around the 16-second mark. If there are five animations, the transition occurs around the 20-second mark. The duration of the animations also impacts the delay. The longer the animation, the greater the delay.

For example, with five animations each lasting 0.5 seconds, the transition happens around the 17-second mark. If the animations last 2 seconds each, the transition happens around the 22-second mark. The delay occurs not during the animations themselves but at the end of the slide, just before it should transition to the next one.

While setting up the timing for the animations, I clearly specify the slide to transition at the 15-second mark. During the rehearsal and recording of the presentation, the timing also shows as 15 seconds. However, when I play the presentation or save it as a video, the transition does not occur immediately after the slide with animations.

To troubleshoot, I created a new test presentation, but I encountered the same issue.

It is crucial for my slides to transition on time, as I save my presentations in video format where I cannot manually control the slide transitions. This issue does not occur on slides without animations.

Could you please advise on how to resolve this issue?

    Hello, NikMarkVT

    Welcome to Microsoft Community.

I realize that you have encountered a problem with PowerPoint. Although you have used the “Rehearse Timings” feature , the Transition will delay after inserting animations to the slide. I understand how you feel.

We've tried to replicate the issue here, and we encountered the same issue when exporting the PowerPoint file to a video. This seems to be design-related issue. PowerPoint seems to incorrectly associate the mouse click time.

Unfortunately, there isn't a temporary solution for this type of issue in the short term.

I sincerely suggest you make your suggestions by filing a report through PowerPoint · Community (microsoft.com).

Click Send feedback and share more about your issue there.

Additionally, directly set the time for transition to the next slide in the option in the image below.

In our tests, set in this way and then the "Slide Show" seems to show no issues. If this works, you may record the screen with other software and take this as a workaround.

I’m fully aware of the inconvenience this has caused. I hope that the PowerPoint development team can fix this feature in the future.

Thanks for your understanding and patience.

    Best wishes,
