Microsoft authenticator login help

I've been trying to access my college email account but can't seem to because I have to use the Microsoft authenticator but everytime I try to use or add my college account to the Microsoft authenticator app it asks for a 6 digit code even though I cant access the authenticator app. What should I do here?
