I've had Office 365 for years, but suddenly I can't create or edit in Word or Excel.

The only other app I use is OneDrive, which is working fine. I've logged on to see I have "Basic" subscription, so perhaps I've been downgraded. If so, should I take personal or buy Word & Excel?

Are you experiencing any specific prompts or error codes when you open Office? You can share a screenshot of it with me so I can get a more visual idea of what you're currently experiencing.
Check the status of your subscription under your account: It is recommended that you sign in to access the Microsoft account ： >In the Subscription option: >check if the subscription is Basic or Personal and the subscription status is normal/expired/displayed；

🔔The following are the steps to refresh the license status in the Office; it is recommended that you try：

▲ Using the Office License Removal Tool to Update Your License:

Download the License Removal Tool.
Open the pkg file in the Downloads folder on your Mac.
Select "Continue" and follow the prompts in the setup wizard.
To start removing the license, select "Install." You may need to enter the password for your Mac's local administrator account.
Once the tool completes, select "Close."

Through your Microsoft account - Services and subscriptions - Manage-install
