SQL Server 2019 - Windows 11

Question

Hi guys... So, I installed Windows 11 available to the Insiders program, but unfortunately, I'm having a problem that was already caused in other versions of SQL/Windows. I already tried all the solutions related to this issue but none worked. Hi anonymous user,

SQL Server 2019 is not yet officially supported on Windows 11, because Windows 11 has not been officially released yet.
This however doesn't necessarily mean that it won't work, but it has not been tested/verified by Microsoft so any issue may occur.

Same issue here, but finally found a suitable workaround.

Brand new PC with Windows 11, with a "Samsung SSD 980 1TB", I can install SQL Server, but the services won't start.

As someone else pointed out, the issue could be related to the physical geometry of the disk, that SQL Server take into account to optimize accessing files; obviously, in this case it fails in the worse way.
Using a secondary partition does not solve the issue. Installing a secondary disk is not possible (it's a notebook with no additional slots). Installing on removable device (like SDCard or USB dongle) is not an option for SQL Server installer.
Using an Hyper-V machine or WSL works but is a questionable burden, in terms of setup time and involved resources. Moreover, having a static IP address was not effortless.

Finally, I almost solved creating a virtual disk (VHD file), directly from disk manager.

SQL Server installer likes it and the service is now running.

I'm just downgraded to Windows 10 by clean installation - SQL server installed without any issues and works as expected, so the issue is in Windows 11.

The same here. For now it makes imposible to use Windows 11 as developement platform.
Kind of shame when two flagship MS products are not compatible with each other.

Hello. Another update on my efforts to get my Samsung Galaxy Book 360 upgraded from Windows 10 running SQL Server perfectly to Windows 11 and have SQL Server still working.

Having followed all the great advice above, and a few ideas of my own, nothing has work, least of all SQL Server under Windows 11, still the same issue. In the end things got so bad I have had to factory reset my system back to Windows 10 and reinstall every piece of data and every application I previously had running.

It is my conclusion that after all these months of testing etc Windows 11 is just not ready for the masses, it is a terrible idea to even attempt to use Windows 11 on any PC or laptop that is your daily driver doing anything more that some web browsing and Office 356 work, any thing else is liable to lead you down the path of wasted time and effort and complete frustration at Microsoft.

In a last ditch attempt I did call Microsoft support and yet again after being past around department(and probably the planet) I was invite to whip out my credit card to pay them c£500 to be able to raise and open a support case for them to bother to take this seriously. I find this completely reprehensible when they are pushing Windows 11 in every way, even my Windows updates still badgers me to upgrade today, yet I am being told I have to pay, twice the cost of the OS if I was to buy it again to fix a problem that just should not exist and is not my fault or because of any ignorance on my part..

So any further advice or ideas I am all ears. Thank you all for your help and support.
