Hi guys... So, I installed Windows 11 available to the Insiders program, but unfortunately, I'm having a problem that was already caused in other versions of SQL/Windows. I already tried all the solutions related to this issue but none worked. If you find anything, let me know. I'm using a old laptop just to work with Microsoft Dynamics NAV since my computer is already using Windows 11 and don't want to go back to Windows 10... :\

which hdd type on your pc?

my hdd is samsung ssd 980 m.2,and i cannot install sqlserver 2019 too

someone told me that maybe the win11 has some problem with the m.2 hdd

Yes, it's looking very evident there is an issue with this particular hard drive. I have the same. I ended up installing SQL in docker linux for now. It works pretty well.

Hi anonymous user,

SQL Server 2019 is not yet officially supported on Windows 11, because Windows 11 has not been officially released yet.
This however doesn't necessarily mean that it won't work, but it has not been tested/verified by Microsoft so any issue may occur.

Parallels 17 user if you install Windows 11 and want to install SQL Server,
you can install 32bit (x86) version SQL ，
include SQL Server 12 and SQL Server 14.

And what is that "same issue"? Usually, it is better to start a new thread, descirbing your problem from start to end, rather than piggybacking on an old thread. Be sure to include summary.txt and details.txt in your post.

There is more than one reason why installation of SQL Server can fail. Even on Windows 11. I have seen enough of these "I have the same issue" to know that it is not at all uncommon that the underlying problem is completely different.

This part of the thread was initiated by a question addressing a Parallels/MacBook/M1 CPU question.

The original question came from a Windows Insider Desk using a native W11 box. This setup is definitively not supported by MS.

I was specifically replying to the post from SachinBangar, who made no indication of what they the issue may be. As it turns out, I shot too quit. Sachin had already opened a new thread. Unfortunately, that thread was void of useful information. (Although, the one piece of information we got tells us that there was no relation to M1. It seems that Scahin has a plain standard Intel laptop.)

@Erland Sommarskog I have to agree with you. @Sachin Bangar you need to share the hard drive model you have in your laptop. Based on the details in the thread here, it is very likely due to a reported sector size issue specific to the hard drive in your computer.

Share something like this please.

MacBook Pro 16” / 1TB SSD / Apple M1 Max Chip / 64GB RAM / 2021 Model
- Total Number of Cores = 10
- System Firmware Version = 7429.61.2
- OS Loader Version = 7429.61.2
- macOS Monterey 12.1
- Parallels Ver 17
- Windows 11 Pro (downloaded the ARM based not x86, which is the right version for my Macbook Pro M1
- Please help me to solve this issue on urgent basis.

I think you are more likely to get a response if you try the Windows Feedback Hub from within Windows. AFAIK, Microsoft doesn't follow these threads looking for issues.

If you search feedback hub, you will find a couple of threads you can upvote to give them weight.
