Sharepoint and File Explorer

In Windows 10 I was able to access Sharepoint through File Explorer. In Windows 11 this is not longer working. I have files that I do not want to autosave. I want to be able to check in/check out files to avoid files to be saved in error causing version control issues. Can I sync Sharepoint files with OneDrive and be able to check in/check out from File Explorer? I have attempted this several times and it does not appear to be working. I've been working with my IT department and not found a solution.

    Dear Jason.A...

Good day! Thank you for posting to Microsoft Community. I am happy to help you

In Windows 11 this is not longer working.

I want to make sure that after you click Sync in the SharePoint document library, the SharePoint document library does not appear in the File Explorer? Or you can see the file but you don't have the option to check in and check out.

Can I sync Sharepoint files with OneDrive and be able to check in/check out from File Explorer?

If you can not see check in/check out files which saved in SharePoint. Could I first confirm that if you open the file through the client, you can click File-Info and then check out the file, you can refer to my test screenshot:

This further helps me narrow down this phenomenon. I also want to confirm whether this phenomenon occurs in a specific file?

I look forward to your reply. Thanks for your cooperation.

    Sincerely,

When I Sync I see the SP library in File Explorer. I cannot check/check out from File Explorer.

I cannot see the option to check out. This is how it looks from my view.

This is a known limitation of OneDrive for Business client: when using Check in/Out the synched documents are read-only (see https://sharepoint.stackexchange.com/questions/240958/how-it-enable-check-in-check-out-in-onedrive-business). There are apps that mimic Windows Explorer in a browser (example).

    Available options:
    a. use OneDrive for Business client and stop using check in/out
    b. only use the browser
    c. use 3rd party apps

I am afraid there is no simple solution.
