After installing a potx template in a Teams channel, the created pptx files do not open in PowerPoint online and in PowerPoint application (message: powerpoint cannot open this file because its extension has been changed)

Has the file's extension actually been changed? That won't work in versions of PPT since 2007
The extension is defined by the process of creating the ppt file from a potx template file installed in a teams team channel.
