Why is Microsoft forcing Copilot on us?

Why is Microsoft forcing Copilot on us. I have managed to disable it in office 365 (curiously you have cancel your subscription and then will be offered 365 Classic, cheaper than the copilot version) but you can't get rid of this intrusive app on your phone/tablet or Web apps. Come on Microsoft give us the choice to use or not use Copilot (Clippy Mk2) when WE want to and not force us to use it.

I didn't ask for it, I don't want it (especially as my subscription was sneakily increased to include it), I don't need it.

Or switch to Google Docs until Microsoft get the message. I am seriously considering switching to Linux, Libre Office and Google drive after many years of being happy with Office 365 and OneDrive/Web apps. It's a shame but I feel that Mirosoft have put $$$ before customers. The hike in my subscription to include CoPilot was done without my permission, giving me AI credits, presumably to get me used to being wet nursed by CoPilot and have to buy more credits to continue feeding!

    Shame on you Microsoft.

To turn off Copilot, you can clear the "Enable Copilot" check box in your Microsoft Office desktop applications. See https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/office/how-to-turn-off-copilot-in-microsoft-365-family-and-personal-subscriptions-bc7e530b-152d-4123-8e78-edc06f8b85f1.

If you read that notice from Microsoft it states that to downgrade to Classic (an upgrade in my opinion) you have to cancel the plan with co-pilot (that I never wanted in the first place) and then you will be offered a Classic `plan.
