Hello,

I am hoping that someone can help me. I am trying to figure out how to delete a transcript of an audio recording from OneNote. I deleted the audio file and everything else on the page, but the transcript remains. Any help would be appreciated.

P.S. I tried to upload a picture for context, but I am unable to do so because the upload fails.

    Hi,

Thank you for using Microsoft products and making community posts.

I understand how important it is to resolve this issue specifically if you are creating a important note, Don't worry here are few steps that you can try:

    1. Delete the Audio Recording Icon – Right-click the Audio Recording icon on the page and press Delete.
    2. Manually Remove the Transcript – If the transcript is still visible, try selecting the text and deleting it manually.
    3. Clear OneNote Cache – Some users have found that clearing the cache helps remove lingering data. You can check this guide for more details.
    4. Restart OneNote – Close and reopen OneNote to see if the transcript disappears.
    5. Check for Sync Issues – If you're using OneNote across multiple devices, make sure it's fully synced before deleting the transcript.

Please feel free to let me know how it goes.

    Hello.

    Thank you for your reply.

Most of this I've seen in other threads, but it does not help my situation. I have cleared the note completely. It is just a blank 'Untitled page' now. But the transcript is still part of that page. If I click on the 'transcribe' button on the ribbon, a sidebar pops up with the transcription of an audio file. I get an error message stating "Unable to open audio file" (that's because the audio file has been deleted), but right below, there is a full transcript of the original audio file. There is no option to delete or otherwise destroy the transcript.

So to recap, the file is deleted and the page is blank, however, the transcript still exists somewhere with no option to delete.
