Why are you getting rid of Publisher?

I recently read that Microsoft will be getting rid of Publisher. I, among other people, are terribly surprised at this decision! I work for a non-profit organization, creating their monthly newsletters. I've been using Publisher for almost 10 years. What other options are there or will there be? Powerpoint won't be conducive for me. Is there any chance that Microsoft might reconsider?

    Hello,

I understand your attachment to Publisher, and I appreciate your feedback. Publisher is still available as part of Microsoft 365 subscriptionsandOffice Professional 2024, and you can continue using it for your design needs.

If you have any specific issues or questions about using Publisher, feel free to ask, and I'll be happy to assist you.

Sorry, but nobody in the forum can answer "why" Microsoft has decided to discontinue Publisher. Microsoft hasn't provided a reason, as far as I know. The retirement of Publisher was announced in early 2024.

If you have an older, perpetual version which includes publisher, such as Office 2021 Professional, you will be able to keep using Publisher after 2026.

However, if you have a subscription version, Publisher will be removed in October 2026. Also, the most recent perpetual licenses, Office 2024, do not include Publisher at all.
