Unable to generate a FB authenticator code required to log in to FB. It won't give me another way to log in

I got logged out of FB and the only option it gives me to get back in is to submit a code from the authenticator app. Unfortunately there is no FB on the app so I can't generate a code. How do I fix this?

    Hi Doris,

I'm Sumit, here to answer your query at the Microsoft Community.

Apologies for any inconvenience you are experiencing. I am happy to help you today.

The Facebook or Meta account would appear on the Microsoft Authenticator app if you configured two-factor authentication (2FA) using the software. If you used some other app you need to check that.

Additionally, the message might mean you have to get the code from another device running Facebook for your account.

    Via https://www.facebook.com/business/help/20982725...

Steps to receive a code for two-factor authentication:

Open the Facebook app and tap the menu icon.

    Tap Settings and privacy.

    Tap Code generator.

Use the code to log in to Facebook.

If you don't have access to a mobile phone, learn how to generate a code from your desktop.

    Thank you for your reply.

My issue is that the only way it will let me in is through the authenticator app and I believe that when I set it up, I set it up incorrectly and now I can’t access the Facebook codes.

I don’t have it set up on any other authenticator.

I saw on a community board that several others are having the same issue.

I really appreciate your help. I’m scheduled to do a big Facebook live tomorrow and it’s so important to me to be able to have access.

    My cel is (917)306-2001.

    Best, Doris Day

Thanks, Doris. Did you ever configure Microsoft Authenticator again?

I look forward to your reply and am ready to collaborate until we reach a resolution. Best of luck!

I have not tried that. What would be the steps to do that?

Also, if I do that but I don't have access to FB would I be able to generate codes?

    >>Also, if I do that but I don't have access to FB would I be able to generate codes?

If you have configured the Microsoft Authenticator app with Facebook, you can surely do so. If you did, you scanned the QR code and entered the code to save it in the Authenticator app.

I am sorry it is not clear from your post.

To restore your credentials, uninstall the application.

While installing it again, after opening it select "Restore" option instead.
