Need Help Rescheduling Exam

I scheduled the Microsoft Azure AZ-900 certification exam using my work credentials. All tests and everything worked right up to the day of my test. When I was getting ready to check in, my work laptop kept failing the network connection test. I tried to move to a personal laptop, but my Work Microsoft account has device trust and can only be logged into from a work device. What can I do? How can I reschedule my exam using a personal id from a personal computer?

    Dear Mike,

Thank you for reaching out, and I completely understand how frustrating this situation must have been, especially after completing all preliminary tests without issue. I'll guide you through resolving this and rescheduling your exam using a personal ID and computer

    Contact Pearson VUE Support:

    • Since the exam was scheduled through Pearson VUE (the testing provider for Microsoft certifications), your first step should be to contact their support team.
    • Explain the situation, including the network issue on your work laptop and the inability to switch to a personal device due to the Work Microsoft account restrictions.
    • They typically allow rescheduling under such circumstances, especially for unforeseen technical challenges.
    1. Request Account Migration:
      • Ask Pearson VUE if you can migrate your exam registration to a different Microsoft account (your personal account). This will allow you to take the exam from a personal computer without the restrictions imposed by your work credentials.
    2. Cancel and Rebook the Exam:
      • If transferring the exam to a personal account isn’t an option, consider canceling the current registration. You can then use your personal Microsoft account to book a new exam session. Note that some rescheduling or cancellation policies may involve fees, so confirm the terms when discussing with Pearson VUE.
    3. Test Your Personal Setup:
      • Before the new test session, ensure your personal laptop meets all the system requirements for the proctored exam. Use the Pearson VUE's OnVUE system test (available on their website) to verify your device and network compatibility well in advance.
    4. Update Credentials for Future Exams:
      • To avoid similar complications in the future, consider using a personal Microsoft account for exam scheduling. If certification progress tracking is tied to your work account, ensure there’s a way to link your certifications to your employer as needed without limiting device flexibility.

I recommend reaching out to Pearson VUE support as soon as possible to explain your situation and resolve this matter. They are familiar with technical issues like yours and will provide specific instructions for your case.

Please let me know if you need further assistance or guidance on any of these steps. I’m here to help make this process as smooth as possible for you.

Warm regards, Scott_LA | Microsoft Community Support
