    Hello,

Welcome to the Microsoft Community Forum. Please accept our warmest regards and sincerest hope that all is well despite the situation you find yourself in.

It looks like you're not alone—some users have reported issues with the SUM button not working in Excel Mobile for iPhone. Here are a few things you can try:

    Possible Fixes

    1. Check Calculation Settings
      • Open Excel and go to Formulas > Calculation Options.
      • Ensure it's set to Automatic, not Manual.
    2. Verify Cell Format
      • If your dataset cells are in Text format, Excel may not recognize them as numbers.
      • Select the affected cells, go to Format Cells, and change them to Number.
    3. Clear Cache & Restart App
      • Close Excel completely and restart your iPhone.
      • If the issue persists, try reinstalling Excel from the App Store.
    4. Check for App Updates
      • Open the App Store, search for Microsoft Excel, and ensure you're using the latest version.
    5. Try a Different Formula Entry
      • Instead of using the SUM button, manually enter =SUM(A1:A10) in a cell and see if it calculates correctly.

    Hope this helps.

Unfortunately, when I go to Formulas, I don’t see anywhere showing as you stated: “Calculation Options.

    • Ensure it's set to Automatic, not Manual.”

Instead here is a screenshot of the the list from which to choose something:

Therefore this SUM button above the = button still does nothing.

Here’s another screenshot of the number screen; I have circled the button which does not do anything but for years it worked beautifully on my Excel Mobile version.

    Hi,

Thank you for the response. Also thank you for the screenshot that you have provided.

I'm sorry to hear that you're experiencing issues with the SUM button in Excel mobile on your iPhone 14 Plus. To troubleshoot this issue, please try the following steps:

    1. Make sure that your Excel app is up to date. Check the App Store for any available updates.
    2. Restart your iPhone to refresh the app and system processes.
    3. Try uninstalling and reinstalling the Excel app to see if that resolves the problem.
