Double-clicking on Endnotes Not Working. Using a Mac

Hello, when I double click on my endnotes they don't take me to the bottom of the document and vice versa. I can add new endnotes, but again they don't allow me to go up and down through my document when I double-click.
This problem has just developed and is affecting all of my documents.
I am on an imac running Ventura 13.7.2 and am using Version 16.96.1 of Word
Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!
