Getting an error when trying to install. Been through all of the rfc/ scannow, DISM commands from other articles referencing the same error code. Stepped through the REgistry and removed all entried of the potentially rogue language pack to no avail.

0x80073701 = ERROR_SXS_ASSEMBLY_MISSING which means there are some system files are missing, which caused the update installation failure. You can also try a repair install by running setup.exe from the root of the install.

I wouldn't hold much hope for this, time may be better spent standing up a new one, patch it fully and migrate the roles or applications over to it.

    Hello @Viddy9

First, you should try checking for updates again.

If you receive the same message and error on subsequent retries, try this workaround to mitigate the issue:

Select the start button and type cmd

Right-click or long-press on Command Prompt and select Run as administrator.

If you receive a User Access Control (UAC) dialog for Windows Command Processor stating, "Do you want to allow this app to make changes to your device?", select Yes.

Type or copy and paste the following command into the Command Prompt window:
    dism /online /cleanup-image /startcomponentcleanup

Wait for the command to complete.

    Restart your device.

    Try checking for updates again.
