Technician Vince posted instructions on deleting Focus Edit on iPad.

There is no menu at the top of the page when I open Excel, therefore no change can be made.

I have an iPad 10th generation and I downloaded the Excel App from Apple App.

    Hello,

Welcome to the Microsoft Community Forum. Please accept our warmest regards and sincerest hope that all is well despite the situation you find yourself in.

I understand your concern. To delete Focus Edit on Excel for iPad, you can follow these steps:

    1. Open the Excel app on your iPad.
    2. Tap on the three dots (...) in the upper right corner of the screen.
    3. Select "Settings" from the menu.
    4. Under the General section, toggle off the "Focus Edit" option to disable it.

If you do not see the menu at the top of the page, you can try tapping on the screen to see if the menu appears. If you are still unable to access the menu, you may need to check for any updates for the Excel app or reinstall the app to see if that resolves the issue.

    Hope this helps.

    Best Regards,

    Fordy B.

    Fordy,

I bombed out on trying to get a drop down menu on page 1. No luck. I checked for updates and there was one three days ago. I deleted my Excel App and reinstalled it, same problem on my

iPad. However, my iPhone 16 Pro has a copy of Excel that doesn’t have this problem. The drop down box has all the options that I’m used to working with.

    Hi,

    Thank you for the response.

It sounds like a frustrating issue, especially since your iPhone 16 Pro version of Excel works fine, but your iPad version does not. Based on what I found, some users have reported that drop-down lists in Excel on iPad may not function properly if they were created using the Developer tab instead of the Data Validation method.

Here are a few things you can try:

    1. Check if the drop-down was created using Data Validation – If it was made using the Developer tab, it may not be supported on iPad.
    2. Ensure objects are not hidden – Go to File > Options > Advanced, and check that the "Hide Objects" setting is disabled.
    3. Try adjusting display settings – Some users found that moving Excel to a different screen or adjusting resolution settings helped.
    4. Check for blank cells in the source list – If your drop-down list references a range with blank cells, it may not display correctly.

    Regards,
